I think it would be interesting if you could manually swap which character you control, dragon or boy, and each would have individual strengths to combat room puzzles to advance. It could be a similiar scenario to ICO where your purpose was to guide Yorda around, except now you have two incomplete characters that rely on eachother for advancement.
Is the dragon really supposed to be cat-like though? It looked more like a puppy to me.
