For all the 'hype' threads of FFXIII, i was expecting better. Sure, It looks nice. And i play RPG's for the story anyway.

One problem i have with this whole hype is the focus on the graphics only. I hardly read anywhere that either the story, interaction with npc's or fantasy setting are really fun and interesting. Which is the main attraction in a RPG. I just hope it's better then the previous one.

That's because as we know the PS3 isn't about good games it's about graphics. Sony talks about it's graphics, developers talks about it's graphcis, the media talks about the graphics, the fans talk about it's graphics. Gameplay is second, control is third and story is fourth. That's the order for the PS3. If it has good graphics it will be considered a "system seller".  I don't beleive it's intentional at all, but just a mindset that Sony inadvertantly sold to the fans when they needed to derail the 360 year lead. When selling a system can you really sell it as more fun when the gameplay can be duplicated on a PS1?

Anyways the graphics looks nice, but disapointing. Not in the fact they are bad, but in that they are what I am expecting. I haven't really been sold by graphics since the GC/PS2 early days. Now everything is on par in my expectations category. The first screen shot doesn't even belong in a game like WoW. It's poor. The others are much better.

Anyways I honestly would prefer to see a FF game take place in entirely in a Midgard like location. That would be unique. This just looks like "another" Final Fantasy so far.

PS. the screen shots aren't vibrant, they are flat. Even the forest is a dull flat green.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
