I would assume it's related to alden and the first sons somehow, in the future they are involved in making the ray sphere that would later trigger and infect cole somehow. Or maybe the raysphere was a different version from the one exploding in the future.. Not to mention how has the future been affected now that kesslers been there ?

What happened to Zeke after the Kessler threw him out of the explosion site?

Kessler just coming back in time technically creates an alternate reality.

One thing that keeps circulating in my mind is the fact that Kessler went back in time, knowing he was way more powerful then Cole to train him but what would have happened if Kessler would have killed Cole? Would Kessler die or would he become part of an alternate reality?

He was never going to kill him. Remember the part where he grabs his neck (first time he sees him)...he could have killed him then...but didn't want to. Know we know why...also...he was much more powerful when he first met him...it makes sense why he let him get stronger and stronger.
