My PS3 use to be quiet and my 360 use to be loud, but after replacing my old 360 with a new one, my 360 is as quiet as a mouse and my PS3 has started to be louder than my old 360.
If you're trying to be ironic, this is genius.
About the price thing, it's like $3 a month. If you can afford a $300 console, you can afford a $3 monthly charge. For that $3 you get a pretty reliable and fast network that runs much better than the free one. I'm not going to rant and nothig against you, I only happened to see you say it first, I just hate that excuse. The 360 does have its problems (RRoD, no built in wi-fi, Arcade doesn't have optical out) as does every other console but it's a pretty good console if they'd take only take the fanboy blinders off. |
It's not an issue of being able to afford it. I mean, let's get real, anyone over 16 can afford $3/month. The problem is that I take issue with the principle of what Microsoft is doing. Basically you are paying Microsoft to hook you up to other consoles and from there, you are using only your bandwidth and the bandwidth of other users. Microsoft doesn't use any bandwidth for multiplayer games. I would not mind paying for XBox Live Gold if Microsoft hosted the servers, ensuring lag free games for everyone, instead of possibly getting hooked up with a laggy host.
And since almost every multiplayer game is done peer to peer, it doesn't matter if the Microsoft network is faster than the PSN. Because it makes no difference once you get in game. The only difference is if you are downloading something, in which case, Microsoft does seem to have the upper hand. And the few games that do use dedicated servers, it's up to the developer/publisher to provide servers, NOT Microsoft. So Frontline's dedicated servers for the larger games are hosted by THQ, not Microsoft.
It's like I'm paying Microsoft for some bottled water. Then they go into my house, fill up a bottle with my own tap water, then hand it to me. That's the problem I have with XBox Live Gold.
EDIT: Oh, and none of the XBox360's come with an optical out on the system. If you want to use HDMI and optical out, you have to pay for an adapter (using the optical out on the HD cables blocks the HDMI port).
