PS 1- CD
PS 2 - DVD
PSP - UMD
PS 3 - BlueRay

If businesses are based on that train of thought, then it's bound for failure.

Blu-Ray (you spelled it wrong), was simply not ready for mass market consumsion due to price point.

Remember how Sony had to pay through the nose for those dye thingamajig?

 

CD and DVD were already industry standard when they put them on PS1/2.

UMD, well, we saw how successful it has been.

you cannot compare "UMD" TO BLU-RAY why?

1. name any other optical drive manuf. that make's "UMD player's" hell name any other device that sony has that played UMD other than the PSP..there were none

it was never cont. for the simple fact that UMD security protection was broke completly, and the movies were priced too high.

2. blu-ray on the other hand is nothing like UMD for one SONY is not the only one who makes Blu-Ray, and even when the PS3 was released there were other Blu-Ray recorder's and player's that were made not just by Sony.
