I think your problem is that you excluded Persona. Not every JRPG back then was great, only a few were. There was always crap. If FF7 shined back in 1997, Persona 4 shined in 2008. Are you serious? One game (or one company) can't carry a whole genre. And no jrpgs are not crap. I can name a sh*t load of great jrpgs.

I still don't see what's wrong. It's a fact that 50% percent of the RPGs released are crap, it happens with every genre. For every Persona there's a Magna Carta, for every FF there's a Shadow Hearts. I hope you're not trying to imply that every JRPG is good
