I read from an article a few weeks back (before Natal was properly announced) that the camera from the Israeli company would be able to read specific movements down to the size of a pinch. I believe that if Natal launched with the abilities they expect it to, this would be absolutely within its range of ability.

don't ask me for the source because i can't remember it but from what i read the resolution of natal is 1x1 cm.  that should be enough to pick up the fingers.  the main issue would be the shadowing effect (i.e. if your fingers are in front of your thumb natal can't read your thumb, or if one hand was behind the other hand).  i'm not well versed in naruto but i'd guess natal could support only select movements and be true to the show.
