Weigh up how much you would value getting one now over the potential savings of buying one near say black friday after a price cut and deals. If you value owning a PS3 and playing it now over any savings buy it today. If you value the savings, buy it later.
What consoles do your friends own? If you intend to play multiplayer with them it should factor into things quite considerably. If they do own consoles now then you could start playing games with them now as well.
