Your logic merely takes costs into account, while sellers' logic aims to considerate as many market parameters as possible, which after adding and substracting are better denominated under the generic term: value.
Sony oversestimated their products' value while underestimating that of its' competitors, and they ended up with an overpriced machine.
Pricing is relative to value, not costs.
