On the contrary Space Invaders was made irrelevant when Space Invaders Extreme showed up on the DS and PSP. If anyone has imported the second from Japan, you'll know the original Space Invaders has only gotten more irrelevent now. I frankly don't know how or why someone would ever play it again, and this is coming from somebody that has put hundreds of hours into high scoring in the original.
