All companies are evil in a way, but MS is just fine by me. As are Sony and Nintendo. Companies do what companies do.... make profit (we hope).
It should be remembered that both primary founders of Valve were ex-MS employees. So they probably have a fair amount of loyalty given that their experiences were good when at MS.
