I like your analogy. But at the same time, when you pirate a game you get a game for free... so if you don't pirate because there's no trophies, you're associating trophies with a value equal to the price of the game.
And I'm just one of those people that have never understood what makes trophies so great.
If you could trade them in for stuff... like the xbox system... it would be different.
