Those two statements seem to prove you have mis-read the data.
The PS3 did pass the X360in Europe, but as you can see here.... the X360 is only 320k ahead now:

For "Total Others" the current gap has X360 1.4 million ahead... but going by that region the PS3 never passed the X360 in the first place, the nearest it got was still over 450k away.
