Well if you can wait do so until September because it is very likely the slim will be released then. TGS is also in September so rest assured it will be there or we are not getting it for a long time. I say just wait a little longer and get a brand new one, a price cut will be coming soon if logic is anything to go by.
I don't recommend 2nd hand electronics especially one as expensive as the PS3 but if you do make sure you get some kind of insurance.
