Naturally, they only matter to the geeks to really care about X arbitrary internet poll. Or in this case, how many people think the game they're planning on buying is going to be favored by more people in said arbitrary internet poll.
And yes, it would seem a bit odd for someone who preferred the GT franchise to want an in game car for a game they presumably won't be buying, but then the whole (internet forum=logic) doesn't always work as most of us are well aware of.
I'll probably end up buying both anyway since one will be available this year and the other next year. Until I've played both extensively, I really don't have an opinion of which is "better."
