If you don't know what you're talking about, better not make definite statements like that. Have you even read this link?

Valve's DLC was promised to be free, as in TF2's case. They talk about it as "software as a service", and they say it gives them good business (for example, TF2 sales increasing every time there's an update to the game).
PC gaming is not the same as console gaming. This quick sequel goes against Valve's philosophy and promises.

No one does this stuff for free... Valve is a company... they need to pay people... those people need to feed their families... you understand how that works? I will bet that of those (over 18k sigs) that more than half will play L4D2... Valve has given those fuckers more than any other developer and when they put out a retail package that expands significantly on the previous version instead of giving them handouts for years they get pissed. They are just a bunch of cry babies who want shit given to them for free. The world doesn't work that way and really... getting pissed off at this shit when they have been given so much other stuff for free is irritating. I personally think that Valve is trying to get out of their EA contract... how many games are they contracted for with EA anyway?

You were assuming the DLC would be paid, which proves you don't even know Valve's recent philosophy regarding updates. They're not about to forget that, indeed they will continue to offer free updates for Team Fortress 2 and both Left 4 Dead and its sequel. The issue here is the fragmentation of the community and Valve apparently breaking their promise to the community.
Note I'm not criticizing you for your conclusion (though I don't agree with it). I'm criticizing you for not knowing what you're talking about and just using truisms like "they need to pay people".
