Does anyone actually get a HD-TV for Xmas? Thats... a rather pricey gift! |
Growing up my father always gave us a large "Santa" present as a family rather than buying everyone their own little present; this would work out to be a new computer, tv, or videogame system and would often cost a similar ammount to a HDTV today. I don't think many people get gifts like this but I do know that families often make one (or several) large purchases at christmas. A more disturbing trend I heard of was that the average American spends $4,000 at Christmas so maybe there are a lot of HDTVs given to individuals. |
Are you sure about thatlast bit? I could dig up some data, but the highest quote I heard was $1,000. |
I believe it was average American, although I admit that it could be average American family ... Regardless, it was a lot more money than me and my (mostly) well employed close family ever spend so it surprised me.
