@jcp234: They only have the resources to compete in the gaming industry if:

a- The economy gets better; or
b- The rest of the company suffers for the sake of the gaming division.

c- They finally release a product which has positive margins which people want.

I think their competitors would not allow c to happen.

Thats not entirely true IMO. The PS3 mote, Natal and Wii motion+ are finally showing the three console makers going for different approaches. That means that they have a chance to find a profitable segment of the market and have it just to themselves.

I don't see any significant difference between Wii MotionPlus and the PS3 mote to tell the truth. The biggest difference is* that PS3's approach includes the EyeToy, and we all know how successful the EyeToy games are.

* Scratch that, the biggest difference is that Wii MotionPlus is out TODAY, so it will have more than enough time to get the market to itself before the PS3 mote and its games ever see the light of day at retail.

The differences between the Wii and the PS3 are significant enough that some people will find a better experience on the PS3. Ignoring the stupid media aspects im sure there are those who would prefer the better visual and different gameplay experiences afforded by the PS3s online and computational performance/features.

Since people are buying many consoles to this day, all Sony has to do is keep the PS3 relevant long enough and it will attract sales from people who have not yet at this time bought a console or from people who are upgrading from a PS2 or PS1 or from not gaming at all.

Tease.
