The gameplay mode idea you have sounds interesting but lots of things do on paper so who knows, I actually kind of prefer them dying at the end of last stand...it provides a sort of alternate ending since the whole thing is done in the flavor of a zombie movie. Campaign is the happy ending and Last Stand is the sad ending with Versus being the director's cut (or something like that). But otherwise I like that idea of making a full campaign-like version out of last stand.
As for the boycott, I think it is kind of stupid...I was happy 2 weeks ago with the game and was loving it..why should the announcement of new, more, and better, etc.. for a new game make me like the game any less now? If folks are happy where they are then they can just keep playing L4D...if people want new stuff then they should buy the new game. People knew what they were getting when they bought the game so there is no reason to be upset at anyone but themselves now that something new came along. The promise and allure of free content shouldn't be the reason you buy a game...you should buy a game because what is there and what is guaranteed looks good.
I of course would love for them to offer a $20 or $30 price to those with the game already but from what I've seen I'll gladly pay the full $50 for what is there and there is still another special infected and a new game mode to be unveiled.
To those boycotting...load up your steam profile page and tell me how many hours of gameplay you've already had? I've had nearly 200 hours of gameplay which is a whole helluva lot more than I get from most games I pay $50 for (I actually only payed $45 though, %10 pre-order discount and demo FTW~). This is vastly better than any movie you could go see which even for a 3 hour flick is over $2 an hour for the entertainment. A 40 hour game is around $0.80 per hour for the entertainment and I'm sitting at just over $0.22 an hour for L4D....I really can't complain and I suspect most of the people complaining are in the same boat.
