No, Sony wasn't first with motion control but neither is Nintendo. There were several failed motion controllers before Wiimote. Powerglove was first of course (for NES but it was made by Mattel) but even MS had motion controller years before Nintendo. MS Sidewinder Freestyle Pro which was released in 1998 for PC had motion control but it failed miserably. Nintendo was just first to make motion controller as standard controller.
