no , im not saying Shovelware is anything that isn't gory or bloody im seeing most gimmicky things are shovelware. i dont think any of these games are going to be huge. (who buys a ps3 just for eyepet? , or who buys an xbox just for a virtual kid friend? ) so why make gazilion threads about them? it is true that nintendogs did do good, but thats cause DS is owned by alot of Casual gamers. |
How is the game gimmicky? It doesn't rely on motion control completely. If you're arguing that it's shouldn't be regarded as a game, under the definition of gameplay and game oriented goals, then you have some point, but to say that the two games are just completely reliant on gimmicks, and aren't being made with care, attention, time, and money is wrong. From my impressions and inferences from your language and tone, I feel like you're just grumbling against any casual games (hence why I went on that tirade against bloody and "mature" games, being classified as hardcore games).
There are plenty of traditional action games, with goals, with traditional gameplay, that have been made very quickly and very crappy. I'm sure that at least the EyePet (assuming that it's releasing this year's Holidays and the trailers truly represent the game) will be a very fun experience for the family, which is what a game is supposed to be about, fun.
The Sims, for example, had no goal, no winning and losing, and it too is a raising sim, is that a gimmicky game (ok, maybe it's a stretch for me to compare EyePet and Sims, lol)?
