The tools of warfare matter less than how they are implemented. At the start of this generation, there was no technology available to Nintendo that was not also available to Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo chose to ignore HD. Sony and Microsoft chose to ignore motion controls.
Nintendo's use of motion control, their strategy to build games around it and blow the gaming market wide open, is what MS and Sony are desperate to copy now (and what Sony pitifully tried to copy with its sixaxis controller earlier).
