You guys are clearly not familiar with this man:

George R.R. Martin, the author of the incredible, genre-redefining "Song of Ice and Fire" sequence. If you are the kind of person who thinks that Tolkien's works are the preeminent example of fantasy literature (or even anything above bland and mediocre), than you need to read some Martin.

But anyway. To condense, we've been waiting for the next book in his series since, basically, 2001. We had a 4th book in 2005, but it was basically just half the characters cut out of the work-in-progress book as it was getting too large. Still an awesome read, but lacking chapters from (let's be honest) the bulk of the more awesome characters.

He just missed another potential deadline. I'm not the type to email him or complain, just bear it in silent, accumulating misery. We aren't just waiting for a new game that should be great. We're waiting for a next book that WILL be great AND continues an engrossing narrative that many of us have been entrenched in for around a decade.

So next time you complain about games taking too long, stop and think for a moment of George R.R. Martin, and all of us poor saps who read books. I promise you, it's infinitely more excruciating than waiting for a new game.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.
