i'm pretty sure i remember a very very old NFS game on the playstation 1 that had a cockpit view without the wheel.... but you are correct GT:P (i think) is the first cockpit view with wheel, can anyone correct me on that? i didn't ply many racing games.

actually i forgot about LFS (live for speed) on the pc, it has a wheel view :)
