An interesting take ...but can Microsoft make it work that way.
To accomplish this it has to convince two groups -- consumers and software producers.

And maybe I am not seeing it, but the comparisons to the Wii (GC BC compatable) and DSi (DS BC compartable) are spurious because the first is a completely different console and the second is a different model with added features.
