well there was a short time ago when i held graphics in high esteem. to me, they were part of what would make or break gaming. i think that as time as gone on though, it is less important than is used to be. the jump from 2d to 3d was by far the largest change that videogaming had ever seen. it was a reason to buy a new console. i remember i was absolutely dying to play mario 64 because it looked so realistic at the time but i think that part of gaming is not quite as meaningful as it once was. it isn't a major selling point anymore at least not for me. the ps3 is more powerful graphically than the 360, i don't deny that, but whether or not that maked it better, well that is up for debate. power is mattering less and less every generation as the ds and wii have proved. graphics power used to be innovation but not anymore. i don't know what exactly appeals to a mass audience but i will bet that graphical power isn't one of the major factors
