Yeah, he stood there talking in front of a title screen. Why didn't they just show video from the game while he was talking? That segment was so fucking weak. It's due out in December (I think), so they should have lots of footage. And I agree with you on Assassin's Creed 2's setting. I was in Venice last summer, amazing place.
