Beoulve said: The Ubisoft conference proves that celebrities doesn't necessarily make a good show. That is the most boring pile of crap I've seen (but last year's Nintendo show is still the worst yet). And that guy from The Soup who was the host looked at the teleprompter 90% of the time.
But it doesn't help Nintendo having people like Reggie and Cammy as hosts either. They feel so fake and awkward, like a really bad american commercial with happy fake families telling how much they love each other.
I find Don Mattick to be annoying as well with the constant clapping, dude just stop it.
The Sony host seemed natural to me, he played along when people cheered (mocked) the Hannah Montana show, and didn't take himself too seriously. Also the audience was more active than in the other conferences. The Nintendo show had a lot of awkward silence... |
I agree with this statement though I don't think Nintendo should be dropped so low because they did have some great announcements.
The Microsoft conference got on my nerves a little because they tried to use star power. I'm cool with seeing Ringo and Paul but I don't really care to see Yoko Ono on the show. And Steven Speilberg was just like "WTF?" But otherwise, I was a big fan of what Microsoft offered.
Ubisoft. Someone should have terminated James Cameron so he couldn't proceed to waste a half an hour of my life talking about some movie/game that he didn't even bother bringing in any footage of. I felt bad for Pele because of the technical difficulties and everything like that. I like The Soup but yeah...he wasn't the greatest host either.

1. I agree with you! It's just one of the things that brings the Nintendo conference down. I still think it was ok. But I enjoyed watching Sony and Microsoft more, mainly because they have more games I'm interested in.
2. That pissed me off >_< He talked about the game and movie so much that I actually looked forward to seeing a trailer or whatever, and then after listening to him blabbering for 20 minutes he walks off the stage and then it's on to the next topic, WTF??!!!!! But what they do show us is a million petz and bling glamour bitch whatever games, come on!! They didn't even show any actual gameplay from Assassin's Creed 2, yet they played the game on both Sony and Microsoft's conferences! What were they thinking? The more I think about Ubisoft's conference, I actually think it might have sucked more than Nintendo's 2008 conference...

The only reasons I liked Ubisofts was because of the Rabbids, Red Steel 2 (vast improvement over the original), a replay of Splinter Cell:Conviction (looks great imo), and Assassin's Creed 2 trailer (also vast improvement over the original because I like the setting mainly).

I had already seen Assasin's Creed 2 on the Microsoft conference, and they actually played it there, so I just find it strange that they didn't do it on their own conference. Splinter Cell was awesome, but again, they already showed it at MS conference. Rabbids was annoying and amusing at the same time :P
Now, Red Steel 2 really caught me off guard. I was expecting some mediocre crap, but that game looks like a winner!
