Large developers have thousands of employees. Famous game franchises have big fanbases. Sometimes those two things collide, and you get employees in the fanbase. Wouldn't you want to be the guy showing all your friends the latest Halo/MGS/Mario game?
Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.
