No way. Hardware can't be fixed with an update. If the camera's on Natal doesn't work out of the box (completely and perfectly), it'll never be anything more than a failure and it'll burn MS reputation as a hardware manufacturer (RRoD was bad enough)


I say give them as much time as they need. Also, Natal in the long term will give the platform legs (in terms of prolonged sales). If Natal works, and MS market it properly, it could be the next big thing and redefine certain (not all) genres. Xbox 360 is meant to go onto 2015 right? Natal launching later and being perfect (or close to perfect) will be more beneficial.

The Natal hardware does the processing on site and then transmits the results to the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 and developers only see Natal as another interface, it doesn't take up valuable processing power and therefore can be ported easily and even patched into older games.
