AFAIK Nintendo increased the price of the Wii to retailers in UK (due to the "collapse" of the British Pound), but retailers haven't increased the price consumers pay. It just means retailers make less profit on Wiis. But I think in Sweden there was a price increase to consumers.
Anyway, if Sony actually intends to sell 13 million PS3s this fiscal year as they stated, they need to drop the price by $100 and soon. Then it will be red ink all over of course, but it's either that or failing to achieve their goals.
