While I agree that it would be awesome to have that, I think we are indeed very far off from this technology being implemented into games at a reasonable cost. If an RPG would give you an option like this for every NPC you meet, I think it will cost many millions too much to implement for more than a handful of games.
I can imagine Microsoft letting Rare or Lionhead go crazy with it, and let them create an experience which makes people buy an Xbox, but I don't think that it will happen a lot otherwise. |
Yea, basically whole dictionaries, in tens of languages and thousands of accents would have to be stored and recognised by the characters and we are miles away from that.

Yeah, completely agree. I don't think the technology is at the level where it could be implemented with the ability to respond to more than a couple of pre-programed phrases yet. Plus the cost and technical problems you both mention. Maybe on the XBox 1440?
