"Sony likes to lose money, so I see another failure in the works." -That was an uncalled for jab/trolling. "F2P doesn't work...even with micro-transactions." -Is that a fact, or an opinionate POV to fuel a trolling agenda? "Sony keeps ponying up more requirements on it's servers..." -So. All MMO games have this requirement. And it's not a bad thing when you have yet to prove that this is bad for SONY. "and believe me...like I saw when they were giving away ps3 in early 2007..." -What does this two year old action has anything to do with FFXIV??? Does it have anything to do with Wii's and 360's also being given away? Those things happen, too, ya know? "this is going to get them in a hole that they can't dig out of." -Is this a fact or an assessment? If it's an assessment, could you please provide some facts to back it up? But maybe you have a point. SONY continues to pump out quality 1st and 2nd party games, and 3rd parties are still heavily supporting the PS3 with multi-platform and exclusive offerings. Maybe SONY is in such a financial pickle that it doesn't matter how badly they manage their finances or get more in depth to make more quality games and to continue to attract other developers. Maybe... Nightsurge had facts that were reasonably agreed upon. Anyone can tell that he wasn't trolling. What about your original post? ;) |
Some of my comments were opinions, because I can't believe that a company in the financial state that sony is in, will take on long term operating cost to run a full up MMO for free...I find it astounding...to be perfectly honest.
In early 2007, during the HD-DVD/BRD battle, I thought that the strategy of getting out ps3, even at a loss, would be deterimental to the long-term financial health of Sony...go and look at the balance sheets for Sony during that period, and look at them now...there was a lag ofcourse, and many a fanboy thought...no way...sony had plenty of bread to shell out...well...it didn't work out so well after all. My point is that maintianing the cost for a Long Term Captial investment like a Full up and round MMO for free will eat heavily into your profit margins. It's sstrictly my opinons, but I've yet to see it work for a MMO.
Long term effect on products...most of the games releasing today and over the next 8-12 months wwere first invested in YEARS ago...those are the fruits of past expenses...the issue is how much capital do you have to invest in the products at the 20-40% level at this current time. hat's the deep hole i'm talking about. So, am I just trolling with comments with no logic behind them...well, the last 2 years speaks for itself. When Sony start to make ALOT of money off it's current strategy, I'll be the first one to eat my words...I'm never been shy about saying...ooops, my bad, I was completely wrong, but right now, the data doesn't look promising to offer...anyway, I'm done. I've expressed my opinions, and I'm out. Fans of this idea can continue to rave about it, but I'll stay with my belief that F2P = fail. Later...
