If you don't see value in L4D 2, don't buy it. Since this is mostly discussing the PC game, the mod community will keep you busy, and Valve said in the article I sent that map packs and updates will not be affected.
No reason to throw a tantrum over it. You make your choice, let other people make theirs without seeing some big scare campaign to boycott the new release.
