Best thing about the PSwand is that it will be able to work with or without the Eye. It's still a wireless controller at the end of the day with an internal motion sensor that picks up and transmits motion. The eye is mostly necessary for spacial orientation. This gives devs options to create games using the internal motion sensing tech of the wand alone, or use both the wand and the eye.
And don't forget PS3 had sixaxis from launch, so they've had motion controls from the get go this gen. Ask anyone who's played Motorstorm whether Sony are supporting motion control in hardcore games. Sony are not Johnny come latelys to motion control, but they are behind on the level of sophistication used in their system.
I've always wanted more motion control and better use of eyetoy. But I like the PS suite of games more than Nintendo's to the point where I was willing to forgo better motion control for the games I like best.
