If it is as simple and convenient and streamlined as a custom ap, sure it's a great thing.

All you have to do is jump to the dashboard, check facebook quick, then jump right into gaming again.  No walking or booting up the PC or anything like that involved.

I'm actually more excited for the 1080p instant on, last.fm stuff, netflix browsing now, all before Facebook, but I can see how it would be nice and simple to check from my 360 if I'm already on it, and easier than using it had there just been a browser added.
