Uummm, "pure speculation" means it's opinionated or perhaps you don't read. It goes both ways, I'm speculating like he is AND as you are. Also, MGS4 didn't do great? GT5:P didn't sell at great #s? PS3 has quite a bit of million sellers, so yeah, what are you going on about? And PS3's biggest ARE NOT out yet, those would be the likes of Gran Turismo 5, GOW III, Final Fantasy Versus XIII. GT5 and Final Fantasy alone will probably do at least 4mill a piece, although I speculate GT5 WILL hit 9mill and Versus to hit 5-6mill. |
Ah, I THINK I get what you were trying to say with your poorly written sentence now... When you added "IMO" to Mirson's post, and then started with "Pure speculation, I tell people," I thought you were saying that HIS post was pure speculation, and then went on to be a hypocrite, as you tend to do. If you were saying that YOUR statement was speculation, that makes sense I guess. You'll have to forgive me; I have difficulties following your "sentences" sometimes.
And on to the "great"//"Halo numbers..." debate I seem to have not posted my response to:
My bar for "great" would be somewhere around MGS4's number for a PS3 game, since it moved some consoles and sold a large number. Since Sony is actually stronger in Europe than Japan for software sales (not true for hardware), having a game "sell great" in Japan wouldn't exactly be solid rationale for making something exclusive to the platform. The Wii is the ruler in Japan, so a case COULD be made for that platform, but the smartest approach, if they want to make money, is to go multi-plat. Sony's top 50 games in Japan have sold a total of 9.7 million units. The top 50, by sales, in Japan. Even organized like that, Japan is Sony's weakest region, as those same games sold double that in the US. I just can't see someone looking at that, and thinking it would be reasonable to throw money at the developer to lock up KH3 for Sony.
Conversely, the Wii's Japane Top 50 have moved over 27 million units, and even 360s are at nearly 4 million. Wii is the strongest SW machine in Japan, where it is actually weakest. Sony is SW strong in "Others"... If KH3 was Eurocentric, then their 43 million unit selling top 50 there would impress. Even then, however, both Nintendo and MS are stronger.
Japan is the only place Sony has an advantage over one of its competitors, but it is both MS and Sony's weakest region, with sales a fraction of the totals elsewhere.
