Any Wii owner should be happy that the motion control has inspired future technology and thinking in gaming which is the step MS and possibly Sony is taking. Incidentally, Ubisoft also announced a Wii camera for one of their games. |
I'm a huge Nintendo fan, and I don't like motion controls that much. A swing here, a punch there is fine. Those are simple movements that the game can detect most of the time. Anything more complicated and there is trouble. This is not a problem with a detector. This is a problem with the unpredictability of human movement.
Microsoft is claiming that they have perfected voice recognition, visual recognition, motion control, and gestures in one fell swoop. This is the same company with a 25-50% console failure rate. They can't even make a decent mouse, and they think they can manufacture the holy grail? It makes sense that they gave no price, because that would have really put a damper on the buzz they are getting. If Microsoft really believed in this tech so much, it would have been bundled with the next XBOX, but they are not, so they are floating it early.
Write it on a calendar: June 2, 2009 - Project Natal will be a disaster on the order of Daikatana or the Virtual Boy.
For Christ's sake, they had a demo of a virtual boy... made by the biggest exaggerator in the business. Why does anyone believe what Molyneux promises anymore?
