E3 has always been like this...tempers run high and people step out of line.
Last year or the year before we even had a call to "go easy" on people during E3 because of the circumstances. To which we pretty emphatically said "follow the damn rules and there won't be a problem" =P
Really there is quite a bit of latitude to make your points and argue with each other...just keep the personal attacks, insults, off-topic jabs/rants, and console/company bashing out of it and you will be hard pressed to get a warning much less a ban. That applies year round, not just for E3.
