one of the reasons this will work is because. it only takes one. and you can play with your family.
where as the wii. you have to purchase a second wiimote($30) and another nunchuck($30) and soon wm+($30-35).
and this is going to draw alot of people. and when this happens they(3rd party pub/devs) will see it as a potential goldmine and start developing games(alot of shovelware) for it which will lead to more exclusives, which is just what microsoft wants 
note: i am not trying to troll. i am just outlining why it is a awesome idea.
