Yes it was, but it was also expected.
Many of these journalists complained about the Wii gameplay, saying "Booo! I don't like moving my arm! All this Wiimote thing is just 'waggle waggle waggle' and I don't want to move around when playing games!" and etc.
Now their favorite FPS machine is taking it a step forward and making people move their entire body. Cheering for that would just make them look like hypocrites.
