I think that if you just play singleplayer, and don't care about the multiplayer and level making, it won't suit you (like me, although I'm gonna give both a shot when I have more time this summer... 15 more school days...)
However, that's like not liking Killzone 2 when you haven't even played the Clan battles/join a clan. So some games are built on the optional features.
