| dcIKeeL said: first, your thread title makes no sense, and i'm aware this was pointed out but, when we look back will the ps3 library be the golden library of this gen? or video game history? elaborate. Secondly, owning all current gen consoles doesn't make you neutral. Having a quote that states: "Known to many as the sony leader but i'm an entertainer at heart" completely discredits your neutrality. Thirdly, you say this discussion isn't about the best game library but most diverse yet you point out the ps3 having "the best game this gen". I mean what does the best game have to do with diversity? The tone you use suggests you made this thread to flaunt the ps3 library as the supposed best and this tone argument is well supported by your golden era/golden period term that, although misused suggests you meant diversity as a stand in for BEST library. Fourthly, you put ratchet and clank in two different categories. Fifth, how the hell does valkyria chronicles appeal to casual gamers??? Sixth, heavenly sword, buzz quiz tv, eyepet....seriously??? Seventh, I wouldn't call heavenly sword, warhawk, uncharted the most casually appealing games. Lastly, MGS4 winning best game this gen within a very small gaming community that does not accurately sample the gaming audience as a whole is not very valid. Mass effect and bioshock have equal right to dispute that title and in my opinion were more innovative than MGS4. |
You pretty much summed it up.
In all seriously, the best game this gen is highly subjective, and saying as VGChartz's goty doesn't make that fact. In fact, arguably, it's been agreed that PS3 fan/fanboys are more populated than any other branch (I said arguably). Gamefaqs, actually recently gave SSBB goty, from polls. Also highest rated game this gen is GTA IV (although if you combine the 360 and PS3 reviews, it would be second), and highest rated exclusive goes to SMG.
Also saying that you don't want to debate over which console has the better library, but bolding claim that the PS3 does is kind of stupid as well as saming which library has the greatest game which I argued against above. I would have to disagree, and while I am as well a PSWii60 owner, and have to say that my Wii gets played the most =). I like it's games the best, and the PS3 really hasn't been impressing me as much lately (although I am pretty psyched for GT5 =) ).
I know you aren't trying to start a flame war and did put in good points about the other consoles, but I would respectfully have to disagree with you. I do not think that it is the "golden age of gaming for this gen" (although I do think Sony held that title with the PS1).
And you should not call yourself neutral when you are known to sway more to the PS3 side and even openly state in yoru sig that you are recognized as the "Sony Leader." And I don't think I'm neutral either, and know I tend to sway more to the Nintendo side even though I own all three consoles.
