Lair was being hyped ad naseum by Sony Fanboys for months. Now with that said it is extremely important ot follow through on Hype. If it was just hype the PS3 would be number one now and not the Wii(WW) and 360(NA). The PS3 did not deliver on its own hype and while it is a good machine was not able to suvive its price or game library. I do agree that Hype will allow a company to overcome one of those issues but not both. Essentially a product most at least prove it is worthy of the hype. The Wii did this Wii sports. The 360 did this with the XBOX and a year head start. The PS3 is not doing this and each month that goes by the less hype the PS3 can get and if it doesn't catch up and start building it again by the end of this year it won't.

Lair never, ever had the massive amount of Hype that tittles such Halo or Mario Galaxy have. It was hyped by a very small group of people, unlike Mario Galaxy. You can claim Sony Fanboys hyped it all you want, but that does not equate to the massive hype that games like Halo have. As of now, the Playstaton 3 doesn't have that many hyped games. It's most hyped game is Metal Gear Solid, which will sell great no matter what type of reveiws it gets. If Metal Gear Solid only ends up with 85% average score on gamerankings, the game will still sell great, and the reviews will be called bias because of the hype the game had. This goes for Mario Galay, as well. When a title has such an incredible amount of hype, nothing can stop it. Furthermore, I would like to point out that the Playstation 3 did not launch with the same amount of Hype that the Wii did. Instead, it launched with a ton of negativity. The Wii, on the other hand, hand tons of hype before the console was even released! Nintendo made all sorts of outstanding claims, such as Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Smash Brothers all launching in the first 6 month of the Wii's launch. They also said that "When you see the Wii's graphics, you will say wow." The Wii had so much hype going for it that it was going to sell great no matte what.
