I honestly wasn't going to buy Halo 3 when I get a 360 until I played it. Like you I have never cared for console FPS games much and I didn't ever particularly enjoy the single player in Halo and Halo 2. However, after spending many hours playing the multiplayer with my friends it's definitely a purchase for me. I'm not sure what I would rate it at this point. I don't feel comfortable reviewing it since I never played single player. However, I can say with confidence that it is a fun and polished game with a great multiplayer. I won't compare it to MP3 because the only thing I played in MP3 was singleplayer and the only thing I played in Halo 3 was multiplayer.
