This is, of course, because anyone who has ever signed up for the game and thought, "Eh, I'll give it a shot I guess, it's free" can be counted as a subscriber. Forever. Club Penguin has tens of millions of "subscribers," for example.
I haven't played this game, so I can't say whether it's good or not. I'm just making sure people have this in perspective -- 2 million for a free-to-play is a very different animal than 12 million paying subscribers, both statistically and economically.

Very true. I do look on this more positively though, I see it as Sony's first step into the MMO segment, and that can only be good
