I think that in a couple of years(you can no longer buy an SDTV if not used in the flea market) People are going to transition to HD TV.

My 32' phillips HD TV 720p/1080i cost about $649.99 in Brands marts USA.

A TV can last 10-20 years. Even if SDTVs are no longer available, there are going to be a ton of SDTVs sitting in homes that aren't going to be replaced any time soon. Until there is a compelling reason to switch, most people aren't going to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading.

Personally, I'm really unimpressed by HDTV. There's still crap for content and a sharper picture really isn't worth the cost to me especially considering that my SD set is still pretty new. If I were willing to spend enough money on entertainment to buy an HDTV and the appropriate accoutrements I would rather put the money toward something more interesting like a classic pinball table. Currently I'm not willing to spend that much money so my house remains lacking both HDTV and pinball.
