In Dutch 'Germanic' (Germaans) refers to the 'Germanic people' and to the 'Germanic languages'.
It is easy to confuse it with German, with refers to the people of Germany, who of course are Germanic, but just one group of the Germanic people.
In Dutch you don't have this confusing 'cause we call the Germans 'Duitsers' and Germany 'Duitsland'.
But somehow in English the name of the whole group is used for just the Germans.
''Hadouken!''
