Hardcore gamers are gamers who love the industry and follow it.
Casual gamers are uninformed about the industry and do not follow it.

Casual gamers don't even know who develops their favorite games.

And this, of course, is true, a lot of people play games without know nothing about the game or the console, but and if this person play Killzone 2 just to beat the game and this person don't know nothing about the game or the ps3? He is casual, hardcore or just a "gamer" in your opinion?

Uh....can you rephrase that?

Of course, and I understand that my english is a crap:

This statment is correct, but if a person play Killzone 2 (a hardcore game) just to beat the game and this person don't want to know about the ps3, or this person don't want to deepen himself in the game or in the console, this person is casual, harcore or just a "gamer"?

No game makes you casual or hardcore, the time spent playing games makes you hardcore, understanding your hobby makes you hardcore.

If that guy played Killzone 2 and loved it and went out and bought more games like it, then over time he would be considered a hardcore gamer. He would likely start going to websites to learn more about his new hobby.

If i play Zuma that would not make me a casual gamer. If all i played was Zuma, and i quit going to video game websites and following the industry, then that would make me a casual gamer.

Its like when 2 people go see Ironman, one is familiar with comics and Ironman, the other has never heard of Ironman before the movie. They both will probably enjoy the movie, but the one that knew Ironman will have been better equiped with backstory of the characters and he will get the subtle hints and references in the movie (Warmachine, S.H.I.L.D., Nick Fury, ect).

To state it again, the games that you play don't make you hardcore, knowledge and understanding of the hobby makes you hardcore.

Hardcore is not a dirty word like a lot of the users on VGCharts makes it out to be.
