"hardcore" is just for the gamer think that he is more gamer than another person.

What do you consider yourself? Just a "gamer"?

What do you consider a person who plays  only a handful of games a year and only owns one console? a "gamer"?

My parents play video games every once in a while, well my mother plays Zuma all the time, but i don't consider her a "gamer".

A person who just watches a movie is not a movie buff. A person who just attends a history class is not a history buff.

The Person who follows the movie industry is a movie buff, the person who teaches the history class is a history buff.

Yes its a term to make one feel like they know more, and thats because they do.

Understand?

Yes, I understand your point good sir, but I am just a gamer that want to play games, I am not a casual gamer or a hardcore gamer, I already played Wii sports and Wii play... I don't have Wii music, but I think that soon I will buy . However, looooooooooooooooooove Gears of war, and I think that I am almost in love with Killzone (the first game). When I want to play Guitar Hero like a casual game, I play just for a few minutes 1 or 2 songs to spending my time. When I want to take the game seriously, I call my friends and we take Guitar Hero to another level.

In fact, I don't disagree with you (seriously, I am not telling you that you are wrong, but you are seeing only one side). But of course, we all are gamers, you have to decide if you want to play the game just to spending your time or play this game deeply.

What I mean is that a lot of games can be played in "casual mode" or "hardcore mode", and you can be just a "gamer" that play the game in the form that is in your mind, and according with your humor.

Just cause you play a casual game does not mean you are casual and vice versa.
